As the name might suggest, japanese box have been a traditional tree for use in bonsai. They are also very suitable to use for the same reasons as they are used for hedging, thier compact growth habit. They are also a quite slow growing plant which makes them good for people who are new to the art of bonsai or dont have a lot of time to constantly prune or trim thier tree.
Standing 30cm above the patterned unglazed pot, i think the standout feature of this tree is the flaring nebari ( surface roots ) which will surely improve further with time.
